GAP is the difference between the opening price of a particular day and the closing price of the previous day.

GAP Analysis can be conducted employing candle sticks & bars chart and cannot be performed using line charts as the gaps are joined together.

GAP is termed as gap between the TOP TAIL of previous candle and BOTTOM TAIL of candle in uptrend or   gap between the BOTTOM TAIL of previous candle and top TAIL of candle in downtrend.

Classifying these GAPs into Area GAP , Breakout GAP , Runaway GAP and Exhaustion GAP will enable to ascertain the potential / characteristics of the stock price.
