NSE and BSE are stock Exchanges. Earlier days trading happened in physical presence. After the explosion of web and online systems, people moved to online trading systems. These Trading happened via a common exchange which is online exchange.

Popularity of these exchanges impacted earlier traditional exchanges. In India exchanges like MSE (Madras Stock Exchange) vanished. But, the ability fo provide better features through online start getting the appreciations from trading community.

In the case of BSE and NSE both are good in providing online trading services. But the additional features provided by NSE well in advance made a big difference. ie., Time to market a particular feature like Futures ensured the NSE popularity.

Hence NSE is popular in this decade when compared to BSE. Even though BSE is the old exchange time to market made this difference.
