If trader quotes high price than current market price, considered that buyer can pay up to quoted price.  In that situation price will be matched with sellers best price and trading happens immediately.

If a buyer quotes a higher price compared to the current market price, he will be listed at the top of the buyers list in the stock window. But trade happens for the price quoted by the seller, which is relevant to the current market price.

Even though a trader quotes a higher price, the trade will happen with best seller price offered at that current time.

ex :  For Stock “A” buyer bids for rs. 520 whereas the best seller price offered is rs. 500, the deal happens at rs. 500 only.

During market  timings  , you will bemoved to  the first slot and able to buy the stocks on the price the sellers ready to offer. But if it is pre market timing , it is quite risky and you will get the stocks on the price quoted by you than the market price and end up in paying more.

Even if we quote high price for a stock compared to the current market price, the trade will be executed only at the highest selling price in the market, because the price is only up to the price quoted and not at that price.
